The infamous Bucket List, we all have one, whether we actually say that it’s a bucket list or not. We all have dreams and aspirations, to travel somewhere, to make that next promotion, or check off that one thing you really want to do. Last summer I wrote a bucket list for the summer on our bathroom mirror, we didn’t do everything on our list, but it helped keep the things that we wanted to do in the forefront of our minds.
I always have something on my bucket list that pertains to travel, something that I want to do or a place I want to go. Lately there have been 3 places I want to visit, fingers crossed, in the near future. Believe me, I have plenty more, the whole world in fact! Unfortunately, just because I’m a travel agent, it doesn’t mean that I get to travel all the time. Travel takes special planning, a time commitment to visit these places and money.
#1 Ireland: I’ve been dreaming about this beautiful green land for a long long time. Thankfully Josh really wants to go also, so we might make it there in the next year or so. When we go, our plan is to do a road trip around Ireland and into Northern Ireland. I’ve heard from multiple people lately that the Irish are so friendly, you walk into a pub a stranger but you leave making them all your new friends. We would want to visit the castles, play golf, stay in B & B’s, stop along side the road any chance we can get to take pictures, visit the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin and the Old Bushmills Distillery in Northern Ireland. Ideally we would spend 10 to 14 days immersing ourselves in the Irish culture. There will be so many beautiful places to see!
#2 Iceland: Did you know that Iceland Air offers a several day stop over when you are flying with them. This means that instead of a couple hour layover, you can have a few days of a layover to be able to leave the airport and explore Iceland. I thought we might want to do this on our next trip to Europe, but the more I read about Iceland I think I would want to go for at least a week. I would want to visit the healing geothermal spa, Blue Lagoon, see the unspoiled stunning nature of Kirkjufell Mountain where you can also see the peacefulness of the Aurora Borealis aka the Northern Lights. I would need to go in the winter to see the Skaftafell Ice Cave in Vatnajökull National Park, BRRRR! Those are just a few of the places I would want to visit.
#3 Banff: I’m not much of a winter sport kind of gal, so I would want to go in the summer to take advantage of the beautiful hiking around Banff National Park. It’s part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains with the bright blue glacier-fed lakes, short trails to hike, long trails to higher elevations, and all the views that my camera can capture. I’d hope to see plenty of wildlife, elk, moose, maybe a bear, oh my! I would want to stay in the Lake Louise village and go canoeing on the crystal clear lake. What you won’t find me doing is taking the polar bear plunge into that glacier water! I recently watched someones Instagram story when they were visiting Banff, and I wanted to pack up and go right then. The views from where they were hiking were beautiful.
Speaking of Instagram stories, all 3 of my bucket list places have shown up on the Travel Channels Instagram stories lately and I was constantly checking them to get those 15 sec snips. While I’m sitting at my computer, I can dream, then that leads me to putting my plan in place. I’m craving to jump on a plane and go!
