The Cruise Life

You are either a cruiser or not. I can now honestly say I’m a cruiser. I didn’t know it until I got off my first ship and I was ready to book another cruise immediately. I don’t go on a cruise every time I travel, but when I want a relaxing vacation then I look at booking a cruise. I find value in being able to get on a moving vessel and seeing several new places. Here is a list of reasons why I enjoy cruising in no particular order.

To Be Plugged in or Unplugged
It used to be that you didn’t have the choice if you wanted to be unplugged, no phone calls, no text messages, no social media, and no email. Now with new technology, on most cruise ships you can choose an Internet package. Do you want to post photos to social media to let your friends and family know what your up to, or maybe you have a business to take care of? The times that I have cruised and didn’t have the option to connect with the outside world, were relaxing vacations.

You don’t have to think about where your next meal is coming from because there are so many options. The buffet, pizza, hamburgers, burritos, and fine dining have endless amount of servings. If you’re hungry in the middle of the night, order room service or take a little jaunt to the places open for 24 hours. Don’t get me wrong, I love to make a reservation at a different restaurant each night when I’m traveling, but sometimes it’s nice not to have to think about it.

It’s so nice to unpack your suitcase, see a new destination one day and then the next morning wake up in another new destination. You get to do all this without having to pack your suitcase and change hotels.

Recreation or Relaxation
There are so many activities to do on a cruise ship or you can just sit and read a book. This is great for couples and families, you are still vacationing together but there are activities for everyone to do alone or separate. Whatever your heart desires.

You get to see several places in one trip. This is great if you’ve wanted to go to a certain country, island, or town but didn’t know if you would like it enough to spend several days there. On a cruise you can “sample” that place and then decide if you want to go back for a land vacation.

There are many more advantages to cruising and I’ve had nothing but great experiences on all the cruises I’ve been on. And of course, all the views are different every day and so beautiful. Silly me, I used to think that cruises were for old people!

Bon Voyage!
